  1. In my view, content selected for the course "Reflective teaching" is pertinent enough for a master´s level. All the readings and authors chosen for this course might elicit, in students, very insightful reflections about what being a reflective practitioner/reflective teacher might be, which is in my perspective one of the elements that we as teachers should have in 21 first century.

My initial impression about the course on the other hand was of surprise. I had rarely listened something about the issue of reflective teaching before. However, although it is a topic which is new to me, I am doing my best so that I can learn as much as possible about it because I think that reflective teaching is a quite interesting topic to treat with language educators.

In regards to statement # 3 - Do you have any questions about the methodology and evaluation guidelines? The answer is no. Professor Insuasty managed to explain in a very clear manner all the tasks and activities that would be assigned as part of the course.

  2. This course is a great opportinity to be more conscious of our teaching practice; the way we as educators are guiding learners in the arduos process of learning another language. To "enhance the quality of learning opportunities", better teaching practices in favour of learners by taking action on the difficulties and reiforcing strenghts. As the Murphy's Reflective Teaching purposes, I believe I can expand my understanding of the teaching learning process by recognizing the specific conditions of my context.

All the articles and the readings for the course provide us with sufficient insights and knowledge to gain awareness on the Reflective Teaching field. Growing professionally and develop reflecting skills to obtain better results in our teaching practice, become teachers critical actors in education who can promote deep changes in teaching and learning processes.

The content of the syllabus is clear for me and the evaluation process as well, the only question I have, is if we will obtain feedback in the final paper before we send the final version.

  3. From my point of view, I have found interesting to learn about reflective teaching as a strategy to find answers to our classroom problems or even alternatives to enhance the potentialities of our students and the context where we work throuthout one`s own teaching reflection.
The action of thinking, questioning and reflecting on our teaching practice might impress us. For example, when we analyze in depth our students` reaction, behavior and performance to the lessons, we may find out that things could have gone wrong not only because of them but also becasue of us. At this point, it`s our responsibility to take action and change those situations that make our job and students´ learning process too challenging and difficult to accomplish. Moreover, we have the chance to collaborate with other colleagues by means of peer observation and feedback which is very significant for improving our practice. Therefore, I consider this course is quite interesting and critical for our personal and professional development, as it opens our mind to new possibilities and positive changes for our language classrooms. Only if, we want to be reflective practitioners and if we do not want to fall into the same routine along the years ignoring what happens around us.

In regards to the content and material selected for the course, I think that it covers a considerable range of topics that give us an overall idea of what reflective teaching involves. Thus, reading and participating in the different sessions will help us to make our own conclusions and gain helpful insights to take to the teaching practice.

To finish, my only question is about one of the guidelines for the final paper.

"You will need to use effective strategies for planning, editing, and proofreading your work before its final submission".

Do we need to work with our partners to do peer-reviewing?

    Thank you.

  4. In my opinion, I think this course as the before ones surely help me to grow as a human being and as a professional. This course represents an excellent opportunity to foster our ability to reflect on and analyze what we do every day and what is more important to take action from that reflection.

Regarding to the content it seems to be very meaningful and worth to my professional development. However, to be honest, my first impression was that there are many readings and tasks. Taking into account the limited time we have, maybe we won’t have the opportunity to make deeper analysis of them.

Finally, I think this syllabus is clear enough. All sessions have a precise description of the activities to carry out. So, I don’t have any question about it.

  5. I believe that this seminar: Reflective Teaching, is going to help me to cope and deal with certain situations/practices that happen on a daily basis inside a classroom. This course provides us with numerous opportunities to update/reinforce or to to better about this issues of reflective teaching.

Regarding the content of the syllabus, I consider all reading to be pertinent, altought I have a few suggestions regarding the video activity assigment, I wonder if there is another option to reflect upon our teaching practices and share it with you. Speaking for myself it is not that easy to record a video of the activities I perform with the students in the classroom( I work at a private school with primary students). That's the reason I kindly proposed a journal as some of us are using one as a instument to collect data. With that, I again make another suggestion for the fourth blogging task. Then, a reflection instead of the class entries would be as great as the idea initially proposed, with that reflection we all may/could share the experiences and the role of a teacher when collecting data with our participants. This may be very insightful for all of us,as we can get feedback/advice/ a voice to reconfort other teachers that are either having a great time collecting the information/not doing that good, and that may be an opporttunity to release and share in a reflective manner our on-going process of building our thesis report for the master's program. Again, these are just kind suggestions. :) >.<

  7. From my point of view, the course is designed to reflect on our practice and recognize the importance of teaching as the role-model for our students´ learning throughout the reflections we make. From that sense, the course syllabus is organized in a way to understand better some issues related to becoming reflective practitioners. Furthermore, the course syllabus makes relevant contributions to what really is “reflective teaching”.

On the other hand, I think that the course is an introduction to think about our training as teachers. However, I have realized from the readings and from the first sessions what really makes us reflective practitioners and the final purpose of it. Also, the readings from the syllabus are purposeful for the first insights of being reflective teaching. Likewise, the assignments are seen to be an interesting way of gaining insight into the topics.

In order to answer the last question, I do not have any doubt about the syllabus. Nevertheless, throughout the sessions are running I expect to fulfil the course purposes.

  8. In regards to the first question, I strongly consider this as a very useful course that I never imagined I could take or find at university since reflection as I have heard from many people, "is a process that we usually do in our entire lives" but now I realized that reflecting is going beyond just thinking about any situation but thinking critically and reacting to make a significant change in my daily practices. in this sense I do believe this course syllabus fullfil my expectations and is going to contribute to my professional growth and development.

My first impression of the readings we have assigned to read was that it was too much and that time was not enough to cover all the different articles proposed. however, I know reading a lot is part of the process for professional development and that all these readings will certainly be useful and productive and wil allow me to appropriate the concept and implications of reflecting as part of my daily professional routine. regarding the contents, all what is proposed is worth reviewing and taking into account.

The methodology and evaluation guidelines are very clear for me.

    Thank you!!

  9. Every course in this master contributes to our personal and professional growth. It is what we expected when we decided to start with this project. Through the time, we have had the chance to choose some elective courses; and it is here when you think about the contribution it may have for your life and job. For this reason, I selected Reflective Teaching course, because I consider it invites teachers to stop for a while and reflect on what we do everyday in classrooms.

In regard to question number two, when I read the syllabus I thought the syllabus had many activities to develop. According to the readings, sometimes I became to think that it was something repetitive. But then, you realize that it is a sequence or a process that needs to be developed to understand what Refective Teaching really means.

In reference to question number three, I think the teacher socialized the syllabus in a clear way. so I do not have questions about it.

    1. I would like to suggest very respectfully that most of the assignments can be developed at class. On these days, we have had a lot of things to do in the schools we worked and I would like you to take this situation into account.

      Thanks,

  10. In regard to the content of the course, I consider that the contents it embraced is a very useful and necessary tool for our work as teachers since it gives us the opportunity to expand our knowledge and analyze our teaching work to answer our concerns and questions that may arise during the development of our classes and thus be able to offer a better school environment to our students.

In regard to question number two, at the beginning of the course I thought there were many activities and readings that in some way made me feel worried since I did not know how I should develop some tasks. But today I can say that each activity has a clear objective and that with the teacher´s help and explanation everything is analyzed and developed in a clearer way.

Finally, I consider that I have no questions since the teacher has given a clear explanation to all the content of what we will develop during the course.

  11. Reflective teaching course is meaningful to our daily practices not only because it remained us the importance of analysing our role as teachers and the way we impart lessons but also because it contributes to our professional development by giving us different insights. It invites us to become reflective practitioners, improving our practices and therefore becoming better teachers. On this, it is worth highlighting that reflects can be taken for granted as we know about it however due to our multiple duties is put aside.
The syllabus is very clear about content, tasks and evaluation process. To be honest, it seems a lot of work and might be difficult to cover it in-depth.

  12. Many teachers think of their classes, how to improve instruction, how to make them meaningful; however, we actually did not know this constituted a serious and formal practice. Believing that teaching itself has a component that focuses on reflection is a misconception, it is necessary to be aware of the reflection process, to identify the pertinent moment to reflect and finally, to react upon it. I strongly believe reflective practices enhance social responsibility of teaching, as it directly make teachers to take real ownership of teaching, but also learning as it is a tool for professional development, while fostering 21st century skills. This course will give us lights not only in our daily practice, but in classroom research, since being aware of the teaching process, evaluate it, analyze it and then take actions to improve it will definitely encourage us towards formal research.
My initial impression on the course was positive, because by checking the syllabus, I saw many methods for us teachers to reflect different from journals. You cannot avoid thinking on journals when you hear the word reflection, but the readings suggest that there are different methodologies and a way of teaching since reflection. In regards to the course guidelines, I see it is very clear how the assessment will be and the different activities we will be working on. Furthermore, professor left clear what each assignment is about, but I would like to know the deadline for delivering our video-taped teaching performance, although I believe professor will make it clear the next session.

  13. The aims of the course lead us to develop both professionally and personally. As teachers, we are growing every day and learning from the experience we get from practice. Luckily, this course will guide us on how to become reflective teachers in a way that allow us to think critically and take action.
In terms of the articles to be read, all of them seem to be related to reflection, how to reflect, what to do, different ways of reflection, and they show that there are plenty of authors who agree on the fact that becoming a reflective practitioner is a meaningful part of our career.
The tasks are explained properly, but I would suggest that the blog tasks should be more specific as they are increasing in every session.
Each session is very well-explained in the course timetable, and the dates and tasks are clear. Also, in relation with the Final Paper, it is interesting how the professor gives us many different themes as a guide to write it. The question I have is if there will be a date to send you a draft of it to receive feedback before the final version.
    Thanks!

  14. Regarding to the first question, the readings and different proposed activities are initial bricks to build our reflective path. Be a reflective practitioner is ver important to our profession because if we want to be good teachers, we need to recognize our mistakes, see from a critical perspective our classrooms and notice our strengths in order to change them or share with our co-workers.

The content is very accurate for a master level as well as the activities. Everything in the syllabus was very clear for me and I do mnot have any question
